Series 1-3 “Collect ‘N’ Build” figures

Series 1-3 “Collect ‘N’ Build” figures

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Seems that Character Options have decided that the “Collect ‘N’ Build” idea is the way forward, so they’ve announced that their upcoming wave of figures will also take on this format. This time the main figures are from series 1-3 and the multiple part figure is the Gelth Phantoms from “Unquiet Dead”. Not quite as impressive as the K-1 Robot, perhaps. The figures available in this wave will be:

  • Jabe (Series 1)
  • Clockwork Man (Purple) (Series 2)
  • Astrid Peth (Series 3)
  • Bannakaffalatta (Series 3)
  • The Tenth Doctor (Old & Ancient) (Series 3)
  • The Master (Regenerated) (Series 3)
  • Captain Jack Harkness (Series 3)

Series 4 “Collect ‘N’ Build” figures

Series 4 “Collect ‘N’ Build” figures

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

It would seem that Character Options are planning to re-release the Series 4 figures, but this time each one will come with part of a Vespiform figure, the wasp-like monster from “Unicorn and the Wasp”. Bit annoying if you already have the Series 4 figures… To be fair, there is one new one, but it’s a pack of 25 little adipose. Anyway, this lot are out in February.

New toys from Character for early 2009

New toys from Character for early 2009

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Character Options have announced an exciting new handful of toys.

First up are “Collect ‘N’ Build” Cybermen. These will come in four variations – three from Classic Who (The Tenth Planet, The Tomb of the Cybermen, The Invasion) and one from the ever-so-close Christmas special (The Next Doctor). A fifth variation, the Tomb of the Cybermen Cyber Controller is built up from parts included in the other four packs, in a similar manner to the K-1 Robot built from the Classic series figures. These figures are expected to be released at the back end of January.

Second is Captain Jack’s Vortex Manipulator and Mini Sonic Screwdriver. It has light effects, a removable cover and adjustable strap. The Mini Sonic Screwdriver also has light effects. This too is due for release at the end of January.

Next up is The Journal of Impossible Things and Mini Sonic Screwdriver. The journal is an A5 notebook featuring a mixture of illustrated and blank pages. Like the last two, it’s also out near the end of January.
