We have received the covers for the individual DVDs of the upcoming “The Trial of a Time Lord” box set from 2 entertain. These follow the previously released cover image for the box itself, also shown below for completeness.
The Sixth Doctor epic is due for release on 29th September.

The popular First Doctor serial “The War Machines”, starring William Hartnell has been released today.

The Doctor and his assistant Dodo arrive in London in 1966 and call in at the Post Office Tower. There they meet Professor Brett, who has invented a revolutionary new computer called the WOTAN (Will Operating Thought Analogue), which is capable of independent thought. In true science fiction style, this sentient computer decides to overthrow the rule of its fleshy creators by constructing an army of war machines.

Extras on the DVD include:

• Blue Peter – A compilation of related articles from the popular children’s magazine show.

Big Finish have today released the cover image and extras information for the upcoming release “The Ultimate Adventure”, starring Colin Baker, Noel Sullivan, Claire Huckle and David Banks It is the first production under their “The Stageplays” series, which sees three of the Doctor Who stage plays receive the Big Finish treatment.

Nicholas Briggs (The Voice of the Daleks) and Peter Ware (assistant editor of Doctor Who Magazine) share their memories of the stage show, and reveal what this audio adaptation means to them.

Remaking The Ultimate Adventure
The cast, director and producers reveal how The Ultimate Adventure was reborn on audio, almost 20 years after the original production.

The Making of the Music
The Ultimate Adventure contains three musical numbers, performed for this production by Claire Huckle, Noel Sullivan and Nadine Cox. We follow them during the recording, while Musical Director Darren Lord reveals how the songs were revisited.

This month has seen a variety of upcoming titles for the new series Doctor Who novel book range. February sees the release of “The Sontaran Games”, whilst April sees the release of “Judgement of the Judoon”, “The Slitheen Excursion” and “Prisoner of the Daleks”.

Some of you may be pleased to know that “Time’s Champion” is set to be reprinted for what may well be the final print run of the novel.

An unofficial novel from the BBC range (it is entirely independent and not under BBC copyright) the novel was originally started by the late Craig Hinton and was to be part of the BBC book range but was rejected for another title. Determined to see the book published in his friends honour, Chris McKeon went to work continuing the book and editing Hinton’s manuscript until it was finished in 2008 – whereby David Howe set about getting the book published freelance and donating the money raised by its sales to the British Heart Foundation.

The book chronicles the events after “Trial of a Time Lord” and focuses on the character the Valeyard, and how he came to be. The book features a variety of characters from the show, such as the 6th/7th Doctors (Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy) as well as Mel, the Valeyard, Romana, Mike Yates from UNIT, K9 and even the Cybermen.

The first print of the book sold out incredibly quickly, but fortunately Chris is planning another print very shortly and asks for those who wish to order the book to reserve a copy do so now, as it will only be a very limited run.
